Charlotte A. Pappa, 92, of Wilmington, Delaware peacefully passed away on Friday, January 18, 2019.
Charlotte was born in Chestertown, Maryland on March 10, 1926, daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth (Newton) Magrogan, and raised in Ridgely, Maryland. She attended Beacom College and studied business management before changing majors to nursing. She received her training as a registered nurse at the former Delaware Hospital School of Nursing, and worked at the Delaware Division prior to her marriage. A talented artist, Charlotte was proud to have studied under Ed Loper, and created many beautiful oil paintings, which she gifted to her family. She was a faithful member of St. John the Beloved Parish, and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother to her large family of eleven children.
Her husband of 51 years, John J. Pappa, passed away on June 10, 2007.
Charlotte will be lovingly remembered by her children, Kathleen Sherer (Horace), Geraldine Douglas, Ann Griffith (John), Helena Bradley (John), John Pappa Jr. (Sue), Robert Pappa (Patty), Mary Opromolla (Gary), Daniel Pappa (Karen), Renee Cahill (Stephen), Charles Pappa (Charlene), Charlotte Horgan (Rick); her 27 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Dorothy McBride; many nieces, nephews and their families.
Charlotte was predeceased by her sisters, Margaret Dulin, Ruth Roe, Jean Woodward, and Elizabeth Slacum; her brother, Robert Magrogan.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington on Saturday, January 26 from 9:30-10:45AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM. Interment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Charlotte may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 185 Salem Church Road, Newark, DE 19713.
