Carmela Michele (Italia) Terranova

Surrounded by her family, Carmela Michele Terranova (Italia) passed away peacefully on June 30, 2018.

Carmela, also known as Lina, was born in Carlentini, Sicily, February 3, 1939 and moved to the United States at the age of 17. She was a creative and talented seamstress retiring from Men’s Warehouse in Newark in 2009. Her family brought her the most joy, and she touched so many people with her kindness and love. Carmela had a special love for God, praying the Rosary every day.

Carmela is preceded in death by her husband Frank J. Terranova, and her parents, Salvatore and Angelina Italia. She is survived by her children Michael Terranova (Kathy) of Southern California, Joanna Viehman (Fran) and Joseph Terranova (Sharon) of Newark, Delaware. She was a loving grandmother to her grandchildren, Matthew, Allison and Nicole Terranova and Christina and Ryan Viehman. She is also survived by her siblings Sebastiano and Joe Italia, Maria Miceli and Rita Mancini. She had many nieces and nephews that she cherished, as well.

Family and friends may visit from 9 to 11 AM on Friday, July 6 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 345 Bear Christiana Rd., Bear, DE 19701, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM. Entombment will follow at All Saints Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Francis Hospital, 248 E. Chestnut Hill Rd., Suite 4, Newark, DE 19713.
