Brenda Anthony Obituary

Brenda Joyce Anthony (Shade) age 65, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2019.

She was born in Chillicothe, OH, daughter of the late Richard E. and Lucille Shade (Rogers).

Brenda grew up in Wilmington, DE and graduated from Conrad High School before attending college at the University of Delaware. She was an active member in the marching band and won a number of roller skating championships. She married the love of her life in 1971 and they moved to a number of different places over the course of their 45-year marriage before he passed away in 2016. The couple had three children: Timothy, Andrea, and Brian.

Brenda and Dan were not only soul mates, but they were partners in all matters. She was a trained expert in business marketing, accounting, and human resources. She was vice president of the company they built together and which stayed in business for over 30 years. Dan would always say “behind every strong man is an even stronger woman”. Brenda was that woman. She was the most loyal person you would ever know and when you met her, you wanted to be her friend. Brenda was the "steel vault" and you could always count on sound advice.

Most importantly, she was a God-fearing, Bible-believing Christian who sought the Lord daily. There was not a day that she did not have a scripture written down or recited from memory to her children. She wanted to instill in everyone who knew her how important Jesus is to life. She walked the walk and talked the talk but she was the most humble, most self-less, and unassuming person. She never sacrificed her faith or her position on a matter even if she had to stand alone to do so. She was always there to receive you wherever you were in life whether in pain, in joy, or in a problem and she helped you navigate through it all.  Brenda endured many adversities and trials in her short life, but the Lord remained her compass and she never veered from the path.

She is survived by her two children, five grandchildren, two sisters, and two brothers; and a number of other loving relatives and close friends.

In addition to her parents, Brenda is preceded in death by her husband and her eldest son.

Services for Brenda will be held privately with her family.

Contributions in her memory can be made to the Heart Failure Society of America, 9211 Corporate Blvd. Suite 270, Rockville, MD 20850
