Betty Stahl

Betty Stahl at 85, she peacefully passed away on Monday, August 6, 2018 to be with her beloved husband Wayne. 

Betty was born in Holland and immigrated to America in March of 1959 with her family.  She initially lived in Michigan but settled in the Wilmington area shortly thereafter.  She married Wayne in August of 1964 and became a US Citizen in 1966.  She was a homemaker but was an active volunteer in the Eastern Star, Meals on Wheels, multiple church functions, and most recently with the Newark Senior Center.  She had a passion for learning and teaching which was evident with her involvement with the Academy of Lifelong Learning and the Newark Senior Center.  She really enjoyed spending her time in developing, delivering, and participating in history courses at the senior center.  Her fondness for history came from growing up in Holland during WWII under German occupation. 

Her stories of growing up during the war were always very interesting and gave great insight on who she was.  She loved traveling, going out to eat, and enjoy the company of her friends and family.  She will be missed dearly by her daughter Debbie Holtz (husband Ken) from Clayton, NJ and her son Jon (wife Dawn) from Elkton, MD along with her 4 grand-children, Amanda Brown (husband Mike), Ken Holtz Jr. (wife Tiffany), Nicholaas and Molly Stahl, and her 6 great grandchildren.  She is also survived by her brother Dolf (wife Annie) in Missouri.

A celebration on life will be held at The Green Turtle from 1:00 to 4:00 on Friday, August 17, 2018 at 250 S. Main Street Newark, DE.  Friends and family are welcome to join.
