Betty M (Hollyday) Dayton

Betty M. Dayton, age 91, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 after a brief illness.  She was surrounded by her loving family.

Betty was born in Lancaster, PA to Edward T. and Bertha May Lucas Hollyday.  She was predeceased by her brother, Edward T. Hollyday Jr.; and her sister, Margaret L. Melchior.  Betty is survived by her husband of 72 years, Harold H. Dayton, Jr.; her son, Chip Dayton (Larry); a nephew, Fred W. Melchior (Carol); a niece, Pamela J. Ingram (Tim); and her beloved dog, Caci.

Betty was a medical secretary for a psychiatrist for 18 years.  After retiring, she enjoyed traveling, reading, doing her crossword puzzles, dog sitting for grand dogs, and tending to her rose bushes.

The family would like to thank the staff at Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care at Christiana Hospital for their loving care.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Tuesday, February 5 from 10:00-11:00AM, immediately followed by a funeral service.  Interment will be held privately.
