Barbara S. Malin, age 75, of Wilmington, DE, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 20, 2017.
Born in Wilmington, Barbara was the daughter of the late Jacob and Dorothe (Dektor) Feinberg. Barbara was a graduate of P.S. DuPont High School and attended NYU and the University of Delaware. Throughout her career, Barbara was a guidance counselor in New Castle County and retired from the Colonial School District.
Always continuing to challenge herself, Barbara enjoyed taking classes at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Delaware in Wilmington. She was a volunteer at Osher Institute, Winterthur, and the Hagley Museum. Barbara also challenged herself physically and enjoyed working out with her personal trainer and friend, Gift Boardley.
Barbara had an appreciation of art, photography and fashion, and was a talented designer of unique, stylish jewelry. She loved going to art museums, shopping, and taking bus trips to New York City. She was also an avid music lover, especially of jazz, and took every opportunity to attend local concerts.
Barbara will be remembered for her very kind and generous heart, as she was always willing to help anyone in need. She will be missed for her constant source of guidance, especially for her daughter.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Jessica S. Daleiden, and her husband, Terry; her longtime friends, Dawn and Rick Gentner and Suzanne Tyndall, as well as her granddogs, Sierra and Zoe, and grandcat, Phantom.
Family and friends may visit on October 5 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808, where a Celebration of Barbara’s Life will begin at 12:30 PM. Interment will be private.
