Barbara Ann Knox Freeland, 72, peacefully passed away on Friday, March 29, 2019.
Born in Wilmington on February 10, 1947, Barb was a graduate of P.S. duPont High School, class of 1965. In 1967, she began her employment in the food service division with the former Wilmington Medical Center, currently Christiana Care Health Systems, and retired after 42 years of dedicated service. Barb also worked as a customer service representative in the seafood department at the First State Plaza Shop Rite, where she became well known by many customers during her twelve years there. A very talented baker, her cakes were widely sought after by family, friends and co-workers.
Her husband, Zane C. Freeland, passed away on April 27, 2001. She was also predeceased by her mother, Cecilia (Bielicki) Czajkowski.
Barb is survived by her daughter, Brandy Freeland Kuhl and her husband, Chris; her sisters, Rosemary Popeck, who has been her faithful caregiver throughout the last three years, Wanda McDowell (Richard), Florence Rose, Joann Popeck, and Carol Lilly; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
A graveside funeral service will be held at All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington on Thursday, April 4 at 12:00PM.
