Alice Rooney Weaver

Alice Rooney Weaver, 84, born on the fourth of July to Mark and Lucille Armstrong in Circleville, Ohio passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday.

Alice is predeceased in death by her parents, her sister Ann and her husband of 63 years, Keith R. Weaver. Left on earth to cherish her memories are her three daughters, Beth, Barbara and Beverly, two grandchildren, Scott and Katie, many close family members and treasured friends.

Alice lived in Circleville until she was 12 when she moved to Springfield, Ohio for her father’s work. She graduated from Catholic Central High School in Springfield and attended Ohio University in Athens, Ohio for two years majoring in elementary education. She taught 1st grade in Columbus, Ohio where she married the love of her life, Keith, who was attending Ohio State University majoring in Chemical Engineering. They had their first child, Beth in Columbus before moving to Aiken SC for Keith’s work (duPont) where her 2nd and 3rd daughters, Barbara and Beverly, were born. She then moved to Wilmington, Delaware where she lived most of her adult life. She also lived in Corpus Christi Texas for three years and The Netherlands for five years. She spent the last six months of her life at Millcroft where she made many friends and received excellent care.

Alice was a loving and kind woman and in her own words “had a wonderful life”. She was a member of Resurrection Parish and served as lecturer, greeter and bread maker. She was an Emeritus member of Junior Board of Christiana Care and Alumni of Welcome Wagon of Wilmington.

Alice was a social butterfly and enjoyed cooking, baking, playing cards, shopping, traveling and spending time with family, friends and pets. She had the good fortune to travel to most of the United States, parts of Canada, Mexico, Europe, Central and South America and Africa.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Friday, April 20, 2018 at Resurrection Parish, 3000 Videre Dr., Wilmington DE 19808, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10am.

In lieu of flowers, Alice’s family suggests that donations be made in her memory to American Cancer Society or Faithful Friends of Wilmington.
