Annette F. Carter Obituary

Annette Farmer Carter, age 84, was called home to be with her Savior on Wednesday, November 17, 2021after a difficult battle with dementia. Annette was born in Bolt, WV on August 2, 1937. She attended Trap Hill High School and graduated from Concord College with a degree in Home Economics.  She married the love of her life, Wallace Carter, on December 18, 1955.They moved to Newark, DE in 1960. They happily celebrated 59 years of marriage.

Annette is survived by her children, son, Michael E. Carter (Janice), daughters, Lynette Phillps (John) and Rebecca (Terry)Boothe. She was dearly devoted to her grandchildren, Shelby Lyn Carter, Elisha Carter, Dalton Carter, Faith Boothe, Jaden Boothe and Slater Phillips. She is survived by brother, C.C. Farmer (Pat) who resides in AZ and is also by many nieces and nephews.

Annette was loving and compassionate to all she came in contact with. She loved nothing more than making a meal.  Countless hours were spent in the kitchen at Calvary Baptist Church preparing meals for the congregation and the homeless.  She was a faithful volunteer to Newark’s Code Purple, donating time and resources to open the church on freezing nights to those in need and the Newark Empowerment Center.

She was an enthusiastic sports fan and enjoyed completing her brackets for March Madness and cheering on the Mountaineers. The rule was “no holding grandchildren and watching a game”. “Granny” was tireless in her caring for any and all children. You would find her with a child on her lap or in  the church nursery.

Lastly, and most importantly, she humbly served her Lord in any capacity whether at Breckenridge Missionary Baptist in Bolt, WV or Calvary Baptist Church in Newark.

A visitation will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 215 E. Delaware Ave., Newark, DE 19711 from 10-12 on Saturday, January 15, 2022. A Celebration of Life will begin at 12 pm. Interment will be private.

Her family would like to express our wholehearted gratitude to Compassionate Care Hospice and Care Patrol for their excellent care, guidance and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Compassionate Care Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association.
