Angela Marjorie Steves, Age 84, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 4, 2020.
Angela was born in Barnsley, Yorkshire, England and served in the Women’s Royal Navy Service for four years, alongside her twin sister, Caroline. After leaving the WRNS, she worked as a secretary in London. Her career pursuit brought her to the United States in 1962, where she met Howard Steves in Washington DC. They were married in 1963. As they started and raised their family, Angela worked as a research librarian at the American Association of Refrigerated Warehouses.
After her retirement, she enjoyed her involvement in various neighborhood activities, even serving as an ambassador on the neighborhood committee and in the Red Hat Society. Angela especially cherished summer vacations with her family and spending time with her granddaughters.
She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
In addition to her beloved husband, Howard, Angela is survived by her sons, Chris (Jacquelynne) and Mark (Hilary); her granddaughters, Samantha Schultz (Jeff), and Megan; her great-grandchildren, Kyra and Anthony; and her family in England: sister, Caroline; niece, Emma (Andy), and grandnieces, Ella and Holly.
A memorial service will be celebrated at 11:00am on Monday, February 10, 2020 at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10:00am. Interment will be private.
