Ralph Montoro III Obituary

Ralph Montoro III of Wilmington, Delaware peacefully passed away in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, July 16, 2019.  He was 82 years old.

Born in Wilmington on June 22, 1937, he was one of three children of the late Ralph Jr. and Arrietta (Grant) Montoro.  At an early age, he began working with his father in the family lawn mower repair business and eventually assumed ownership.  After selling the business, Ralph began a career in masonry working for Neil, Inc., CiDe Corp., E. J. Wilkinson, and for the last several years Joseph Rizzo & Sons Construction Company, where he served as Fleet Mechanic Foreman.  Ralph completed his career in November 2018 at the age of 81.

Ralph was a skilled, passionate bowler who was well known and respected throughout the bowling community.  He competed and participated at many alleys and proudly achieved several perfect games and 800 series.  He also was happy to share his skill by coaching youth bowling leagues.  Ralph enjoyed boating, fishing, and above all, being with his beloved family.

His wife of 53 years, Catherine (Zondlo) Montoro, passed away on June 22, 2018.

Ralph will be dearly missed by his children, Joe Montoro and wife, Jenn and Stephanie Murphy and husband, Scott; his grandchildren, Kalin, Tiffanie, Brittany and Renata; his great grandchildren, Zoey and Julian.  He is also survived by his sister, Joan Masten.

He was predeceased by his brother, James “Cricket” Montoro in 2003.

Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Wednesday, July 24 from 5:00-7:00PM.  A Catholic funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, July 25 at 10:00AM, immediately followed by interment in All Saints Cemetery.
