Joseph Angelo Paloni died in peace surrounded by loved ones at his home in Wilmington on February 6, 2018.
He was born in Wilmington to the late Carl and Josephine Paloni and spent most of his childhood in Hockessin. He graduated from Conrad High School in 1952. He served in the Military Police of US Army with the Army of Occupation in Europe. Joe was in the mushroom industry until his retirement in 2013.
He enjoyed playing tennis and golf, spending time at the beach, and was devoted to his dogs over the years. Joe is widely known for his kindness to others and a keen sense of humor.
Survivors include his wife Patricia Paloni of nearly sixty years; three daughters, Stephanie Paloni Chupein of Baltimore, Michelle Paloni Greenfield of Elizabethtown, PA, and JoAnn Paloni of Pemaquid, ME, and their spouses, Edward J. Chupein, John P. Greenfield, and Robert Wright, respectively; one sister, Rosa Paloni Blackwell and her husband, Clinton Blackwell; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two nieces, and a nephew.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 12 at 10:00 am for visitation and a funeral mass at 11:00 am, both at Resurrection Parish, 3000 Videre Dr, Wilmington, DE 19808. An interment at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, 1516 Ashland Clinton School Road Hockessin, DE 19707 will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Delaware Humane Society, 701 A. St., Wilmington, DE 19801.
