Eugene W. Winans

Eugene W. Winans, age 79, of Wilmington, DE passed away on Friday, February 23, 2018.

Gene joined the Elkton Police Department after four years as a Sheriff’s Deputy in Alabama and twenty years in the U.S. Marine Corps. He became Cecil County’s first D.A.R.E (Drug Abuse Resistance Education). He also worked with the Special Olympics in Elkton, MD.

Gene is survived by his caregiver, Patricia A. Winans of Wilmington, DE; his aunt, Lillian Armstrong of Elkton, MD; and Lettie Ross of Newark, DE.

A committal service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, March 6 at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 2365 Chesapeake City Rd., Bear, DE 19701.
