Alice J. (McTernan) Brennan

Alice McTernan Brennan, 74, of Landenberg, PA, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2017.

She was born in Killargue, Dromahair, Leitrim, Ireland, daughter of the late Francis and Brigid (Kelly) McTernan.

In 1961, she came to the United States to live with her Aunt Mary Ellen McTernan in Brooklyn, NY. There, she eventually met and married Robert F. Brennan in 1968. She and Bob moved to Middletown, NJ in 1976 and then to Landenberg, PA in 1984.

Alice dedicated her life to raising her family. She was a devoted and loving caregiver to her children and her grandchildren, who affectionately knew her as “Mom-Mom”.

Her sense of humor was unmatched and her personality would light up the room. In addition to her family, she surrounded herself with great friends and neighbors and cherished the time she spent with them.

Alice is survived by her children, Mary Winstead (Art), Trish Seningen (Mike Asplen), Robert Brennan, and Jimmy Brennan (Neddie); her grandchildren, Caeli, Tiernan, Mollie, Emma, Abigail, Claire, Patrick and Kennedy; her siblings, Maureen McGorrin, Joseph and Michael McTernan, Anne O’Rourke, and Breege Coggins; her son-in-law, Jim Seningen; and her very dear friends, Annie and Richie Shea.

In addition to her parents, Alice is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Brennan; her daughter, Jennifer Brennan; her grandson, Jack Brennan; and her sister, Marion McTernan.

Family and friends are invited to visit from 5:00 – 7:00pm on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Holy Angels Church, 82 Possum Park Road, Newark, DE 19711. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Alice’s memory can be made to Salesianum School, 1801 N. Broom Street, Wilmington, DE 19802.
