Marie Cantera Jeandell, 93, of Claymont, Delaware passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2024. Born in Wilmington on May 23, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Domenick and Mary (Olivere) Cantera.
A 1948 graduate of P.S. duPont High School, Marie worked as a bookkeeper for various medical offices in the Wilmington area. She also assisted her elderly family members with keeping their financial matters organized.
Marie was proud to serve as the Olivere Family genealogist, diligently maintaining family records to reflect marriages, births and passings. She and some cousins were instrumental in planning the first Olivere Family reunion held at the Cavaliers Country Club in 1960. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling at Holiday Lanes in Claymont. Marie also enjoyed traveling, most especially her trips to Italy and Australia.
Her husband of 60 years, J. David Jeandell, passed away on April 4, 2014. In addition, she was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Martha R. Vallett and Brice S. Vallett, Jr.
Marie is survived by several cousins and their families, including Bernadette Murphy, her husband, Robert and their children, Christopher and Laura. Throughout her 60 years of living in Rolling Park, Marie enjoyed the many lasting friendships with several neighbors.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 1900 Delaware Avenue, Wilmington on Friday, April 12 from 10:00 – 11:00AM. Funeral services will begin at 11:00AM, immediately followed by entombment in Silverbrook Cemetery, Wilmington.
