Francis Patrick Woerner, 52, of Hockessin, DE, passed away on April 13, 2024. He was born on December 10, 1971, in Wilmington, DE.
Pat was a very proud resident of the State of Delaware and a devoted fan of the University of Delaware Blue Hens. He graduated from Middletown High School, Class of 1990 and honorably served in the Army National Guard.
Pat was a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Wilmington, DE, for over 30 years. He was a dedicated healthcare professional who made a difference in the lives of many.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, Erin Woerner; his son, Callahan Woerner; his mother & step-father, Maryanne & Dave Townsend; his father & step-mother, Francis & Lynn Woerner; his sister & brother-in-law, Melissa & Alan Caldwell; his niece & her husband, Amber & Stephen Galloway, and their daughter Savannah; his nephew, Austin Caldwell; his aunts & uncles, Maggie Bartoli, Jack Volk, Marty & Reenie Volk, Marie & Richard Beldyk, John & Elaine Woerner, Peggy Mergo, and Aloysius Woerner & wife Kathy Tierno, and Jean Woerner; his sister-in-law, Krissie Callahan; his brother-in-law, Brian Callahan; and many cousins.
Along with his beloved Blue Hens, Pat was also an avid Phillies & Eagles fan, but most of all, he loved cheering on his son, Callahan, at his swim meets. He also enjoyed spending time reading, was a big Star Wars fan, and could solve any Rubik’s cube placed in front of him.
Family and friends are invited to visit from 5PM-7PM on Thursday, April 18th, 2024, at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 19th, 2024, beginning at 11AM at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 7200 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, DE 19707. Interment will be held privately at a later date.
