Winifred A. (White) Rivera

Winifred A. Rivera, age 88, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 4, 2018.

Winnie was born in Philadelphia, PA, daughter of the late John and Jean (Flanigan) White.

In addition to raising her family, Winnie worked a variety of jobs, most recently as a cook at the University of Delaware.

She is survived by her children, Philip Ciafardo, Sue Orsetti (Ray), Joe Ciafardo (Patricia), Kathy Healy (Don), Chuck Ciafardo (Margaret), and Jim Ciafardo (Crystal); 13 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Philip J. Ciafardo and her second husband, Mike Rivera; 4 brothers; 1 sister; and her daughter-in-law, Janet Ciafardo.

Winnie’s family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Christiana Hospital and Seasons Hospice, for the wonderful care and compassion given to their mother.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Monday, April 9, 2018 at Holy Family Church, 15 Gender Road, Newark, DE 19713, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10:00am. Interment will be held in All Saints Cemetery.
