William A. Taylor, 102, of Wilmington, DE, peacefully passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2017.

Mr. Taylor was born in Gloucester City, NJ on July 26, 1915, son of the late Arthur and Evelyn (Phieffer) Taylor.  A veteran of World War II, he proudly served in the United States Army, was a graduate of the Quartermaster School at Camp Lee, and achieved the rank of First Lieutenant.  Mr. Taylor and his wife, Margaret owned and operated Dugan's Liquor Store for 50 years.  He was a longtime member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Parish, as well as a member of the Elks Lodge #307.

His wife of 67 years, Margaret U. (Dugan) Taylor, passed away on January 17, 2006.

Mr. Taylor is survived by his children, Dr. William A. Taylor, Jr. (Eve), Sally Taylor (Shay), Peggy Hancock (Raymond); his daughter-in-law, Ann; five grandchildren, William, Jay, Margaret, Damon, Nicole; and six great grandchildren, Ryan, Charlie, Frances, William, Juniper, Gavin.  He is also survived by his sister, Edith Benner; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son, Damon T. Taylor; his siblings, Arthur C. Taylor, Damon B. Taylor, Evelyn L. Williams.

Funeral services and entombment will be held privately.
