William L. Perry, Jr.

William L. Perry, Jr. passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at the age of 93.  He was in the comfort of his home surrounded by family.  Born in Denton, MD on February 28, 1923, he was one of nine children of the late William and Ethel (Satterfield) Perry. 

Jr (Bill) was employed with the Container Corporation of America and retired as a foreman in 1984 after 40 years of dedicated service.  He was a faithful member of St. James Episcopal Church – Millcreek, where he served as sexton for many years.  He was also a devoted Phillies fan.  Following retirement, Jr spent many winters in Florida with his wife, Loretta.  Prior to their Florida excursions, they were avid campers and enjoyed trips throughout the United States with family and friends.

His loving wife of 72 years, Loretta R. (Fox), passed away on March 20, 2014.

Jr is survived by his daughters, Carolyn Eldridge and Shirley Alexander (Karl); his sons, Thomas and David Perry; his grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and his brother, Charles Perry.

Jr was predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Nancy Perry; his son-in-law, Milt Eldridge; two brothers and five sisters.

The family would like to thank the staff of Vitas Hospice and associate nurses and aides for the care and compassion given to Jr.

Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Saturday, June 25 from 10:00AM-12:00PM.  Funeral services, officiated by Fr. James Bimbi, will begin at 12:00PM, immediately followed by interment in St. James Episcopal Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jr may be made to St. James Episcopal Church, 2106 St. James Church Road, Wilmington, DE 19808.
