Walter Gerald Davis passed away at the age of 81 on Wednesday, April 18, 2018. His wife, Dorothy and his son, Michael were at his bedside.
Walter was born in Wilmington on July 12, 1936, son of the late Millard and Pearl (Warren) Davis. Following his graduation from high school, he enlisted in the United States Naval Reserves and served dutifully for eight years. He was employed with the DuPont Company and retired in 1992 at the young age of 56 after 38 years of dedicated service. For the next twenty years, he and Dorothy put on their traveling boots. They had the pleasure of traveling to many diverse destinations, especially enjoying heli-hiking in the Canadian Rockies and hanging out in Maui. They also shared many great memories on the road with their best friends, Deacon Francis and Marie Staab.
Walt is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy (Treskowski) Davis; his son, Michael Davis; his sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Henry Komnik; his sisters-in-law, Janet Davis (Alfred, deceased) and Shirley Davis (Harold, deceased); several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Walt was predeceased by his five brothers, Edward, Donald, Robert, Alfred and Harold.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington on Saturday, April 21 at 10:00AM.
The viewing and interment will be held privately.
