Thomas R. Golden ''Poppy'', age 70 of Wilmington, DE, the son of the late James F. and Mary Golden passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends Saturday, April 22, 2017.
Poppy was a very dedicated father and his entire life revolved around his family. He was loved by all and was everyone’s friend. Poppy served with the Elsmere Fire Company for 10 years and also served in the Delaware National Guard where he was honorably discharged after 6 years of service.
Poppy was a proud member of the Pulaski Legion of Delaware where he was a shuffleboard player extraordinaire! He also had a strong passion for collecting antique oil lamps, politics and joke telling.
Poppy retired after 20 years with the local 74 Pipefitter's Union followed by another 20 year career with New Castle County Government.
Poppy is survived by his son, Timothy J. Golden and his wife, Allison of Newark; daughters, Tammie L. Lindsay and her husband, Price of Lewes & Tracey A. Bartholomew and her husband, Robert of Hockessin and siblings, Shirley Agnor, James Golden (Pat), Edward Golden (Nancy)
Poppy is also survived by his six beautiful grandchildren, Vanessa & Daisy Bartholomew, Mikaylah & Price III Lindsay and Ethan & Gabriella Golden. He is also survived by a large loving extended family.
A viewing for family and friends will be held from 5:30- 7:30 pm on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Doherty Funeral Home located at 3200 Limestone road, Wilm. DE 19808.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 28, 2017 at St. John the Beloved Church located at 907 Milltown rd. Wilm. DE 19808. Following the Mass, a graveside service will be held at the All Saints Cemetery
