Susanna M. (McCafferty) Friel

Susanna Friel, age 87 of Bear, DE, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, February 8, 2016, with her loving family at her side.

Susanna was born in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (McShane) McCafferty.  She was a proud graduate of West Catholic High School.

Susanna lived a very faith-filled and joyous life. She had an incredible sense of humor and always brought out the best in everyone she met. She enjoyed dancing and had a special talent for ceramics. She liked to spend time with her family and especially cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Dennis Friel (Teresa), Christopher Friel (Elizabeth), Madelaine Devers, and Theresa Burke (Albert); her 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and members of her extended family.

In addition to her parents, and her beloved husband, Joseph H. Friel, Jr., Susanna was preceded in death by her daughter, Geraldine Friel; and her siblings, Betty Applin and John McCafferty.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30am on Friday, February 12, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 345 Bear-Christiana Road, Bear, DE 19701, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10:00am. Interment will be held privately in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery in Langhorne, PA.
