Stephen Robert Misetic

Captain Stephen Robert Misetic of the Wilmington Police Department died unexpectedly at home on March 3, 2018.  He was 45 years old.
 

Stephen is survived by his wife, Colleen Misetic and his twin daughters, Stephanie and Cassie Misetic of Wilmington, DE; his mother, Sharon Misetic of Chadds Ford, PA; his sister, Jennifer (Misetic) McGuire, her husband, Brendan McGuire, and their three children, Brendan, Bridget, and Shane McGuire of Springfield, PA.  He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Misetic of Wallingford, PA.
 

Stephen was born on April 17, 1972 in Upper Darby, PA to Robert and Sharon Misetic.  He graduated from Garnet Valley High School in 1990.  He then attended West Chester University, graduating in 1994 with a degree in Criminal Justice. He joined the Wilmington Police Department in 1996 after graduating from the 84th Police Academy at the top of his class, where he received an Award of Academic Excellence.  He married Colleen, the love of his life, in 2000. The couple welcomed Cassie and Stephanie into their family in 2003.  He was a devoted and dedicated father and husband. 
 

Stephen was a dedicated family man who cherished his beautiful daughters and wife to no end. Stephen was also an accomplished police officer who rose through the ranks of the Wilmington Police Department due to his strong work ethic and respectful interactions with all who crossed his path. He was a kind individual who enjoyed traveling with his family, watching old movies, and sports of all kinds; and who was passionate about making the world a better place for all around him. 
 

A viewing will be held at the Chase Center on the Riverfront, 815 Justison Street, Wilmington, DE 19801 from 9:00 - 10:45am, with a funeral service beginning at 11:00am. Interment will be private.
All are welcome to attend and celebrate Stephen’s life.
