Jugoslava “Slavica” Buser, age 88 of Wilmington, DE, passed away at home on Monday, March 2, 2015 with her son by her side.

She was born in Dubrovnik, Yugoslavia on August 1, 1926, the daughter of the late, Nikola and Leposava (Berberavic) Lenici.

Slavica met her husband, Kenneth R. Buser while he was serving in Italy during WWII. They married in Jesi, Italy and she moved back with him to the US when she was 18 years old. They originally settled in Crawfordsville, IN, with Ken’s family until his career with DuPont brought them to Delaware.

She was a devoted and loving mother and wife, and was unselfishly dedicated to raising her family. She took on much of the responsibility around the house as her husband worked diligently to provide for her and their three children.

Slavica was a committed member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church for nearly 60 years, where she volunteered in various capacities at the church, the Emmanuel Dining Room, the Wilmington Flower Market, and many other organizations. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. She especially enjoyed family trips to Europe, to the Midwest to visit Ken’s family and to Rehoboth Beach in the summer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth R. Buser and her daughter-in-law, Jill Buser.

She is survived by her daughter, Nita Wirtz and her husband, Hubert; her sons, Steven and John Buser; her grandchildren, Jackie, Kathy, Tim, Amanda, Rachel, Matthew and Sarah; and her great-grandchildren, Ashley, Kaitlyn, Luke, Justin, Sonja, Aubrie and Isabella.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, March 6, 2015 at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 1700 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19804, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10:00am. She will be laid to rest with her husband, Ken, in Crawfordsville, IN at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, her family suggests making contributions to St. Mark’s United Methodist Church at the address listed above, or to the Wilmington Flower Market, c/o Jane Long, 8 Loblolly Court, Hockessin, DE 19707.
