Sandra Elizabeth (Parquette) Conaway

Sandra E. (Parquette) Conaway of Bear, DE passed away at the age of 73 on February 1, 2016 at home surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with brain cancer.

Sandy is survived by her husband of 45 years, Bayard Ron Conaway, and her beloved daughter and best friend, Holly Seramone, and Son-in-Law, Damian. She is also survived by her brother, John Wayne Parquette, of York, PA; her nephew, Lt. Commander (Navy) John Parquette; her aunt, Dolores Doran, of Illinois and her treasured friend, Cissie Lynn. She is preceded in death by her mother, Ida “Betty” Woodside.

A 1962 graduate of Brandywine High School, Sandy worked for various companies over the years. Her greatest job was raising her daughter. Sandy worked on many political campaigns and was the President of Wilmington Manor Gardens CA for over 10 years, which both made her many great friends “family” in the process. Sandy’s greatest times were spent traveling with her mother and daughter. She made Holly a promise to see all 50 states by the time Holly was 18. Sandy never broke a promise!

Sandy’s love for country music was well known. Her love for Loretta Lynn for over 50 years and vacations spent in Tennessee has awarded her lifelong friends who have become family. Always doing for others is the only way Sandy would have it.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016, from 10 AM to 12 Noon at Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE, 19808, where a Celebration of Sandy’s Life will begin at 12 Noon. Interment will follow at St. George’s Cemetery in St. George’s, DE.
