Ruth Bullock Sandy, born on August 20, 1937 in Chester, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 18, 2015.
Ruth, also known as Mom-Mom was a wonderful wife, loving mother, and a doting grandmother. She will be remembered for her generosity and her devotion to her family, as well as her colorful use of sarcasm. Ruth adored her grandchildren, Conor and Natalie, by whom she will be deeply missed.
Ruth was born and raised in Chester, PA. In the early years, Ruth worked for the Philadelphia Electric Company. She married her husband, "Bill" in 1962 and started their family right away. They moved to Brookmeade II in Wilmington, Delaware in 1968 and made it their home.
She was a homemaker and later worked in her children's schools as a library aide, a contract worker at DuPont and lastly as a receptionist at The Rockford Center. Ruth retired in October, 2012.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William T. Sandy; and her son, Patrick F. Sandy. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Ann-Marie Lavelle (Joe); grandchildren, Conor and Natalie; two sisters, Sara Fox and Margie Diehl; as well as many loving family and friends.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Sunday, April 26 from 2:00-4:00PM. A graveside funeral service will be held in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington on Monday, April 27 at 10:30AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way #205, New Castle, DE 19720.
