Russell W. Stewart

Russell W. Stewart, age 69, of Middletown, DE passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Hazleton, PA but moved to Delaware as a young boy. He resided in Middletown with his son, Brent.

Russell graduated from Brown Tech High School. He worked at Potts Welding as a boiler maker and welder for many years. He retired from the University of Delaware as a welder. Russell enjoyed sports, always cheering for the Phillies and Eagles. He loved fishing and crabbing with Brent and Bryen and friends.

Russell had four children, 2 whom predeceased him; Charlene Guyer and Russell Stewart, Jr.

He is survived by his sons, Brent Stewart and Bryen Stewart and his wife, Patty Stewart of Bear, DE who helped care for him. Russell had 2 grandchildren, Blake Stewart of Hockessin, DE and John Guyer of DE. He is also survived by his siblings, Nancy Dangle of Michigan, Robert Stewart (Peggy) of Louisiana and Mark Stewart (Karen) of DE.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 23 from 10-11am at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 9th and Dupont Sts., Wilmington, DE with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Compassionate Care Hospice, 405 E. Marsh Lane, #4, Newport, DE 19804.
