Richard F. Manges, 79, of Newark, DE passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 25, 2016.

Richard was born in Brooklyn, New York on November 20, 1936, son of the late Frederick and Helen (Freed) Manges.  He earned his Associate Degree from State University of New York at Farmingdale, his undergraduate degree from Adelphi University and his MBA from C.W. Post College of Long Island University. He later completed studies in Chartered Financial Consulting at the American College in Bryn Mawr, PA.  He was employed as chief financial officer for the Lehigh Valley Hospital, and had a second career as a financial advisor with Nationwide Insurance as a representative to the Delaware State Teachers Union.  He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.

Richard was an avid New York Mets enthusiast and had a keen interest in lighthouses.  He also loved golfing, boating, fishing and being close to the water.  His greatest pleasure was spending time with his beloved family.

Richard will be dearly missed by his wife of 59 years, Barbara (Ayasse) Manges; his daughters, Vanessa Spence and husband, Gene, and Valerie Hall; and his grandchildren, Nicholas and Nelson Hall, Dylan and Genevieve Spence.  He is also survived by his brother, Dr. Kenneth Manges.

Richard was predeceased by his son, Keith Manges; and his sister, Kathryn Manges.

Funeral services for Richard will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 2033 Graves Road, Hockessin, DE 19707 on Wednesday, June 15.  Visitation will begin at 10:00AM, with services at 11:00AM.  Following the services, a luncheon will be held in the church social hall.

Richard was a great advocate for ovarian cancer research.  As such, in lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Delaware Ovarian Cancer Foundation, 701 Sweetleaf Drive, Wilmington, DE 19808 (www.deovariancancer.org).
