Reverend Edward Joseph Storck, a retired priest of the Diocese of Wilmington, died on June 12, 2017 at the age of 91. Father Storck was born on January 27, 1926 in Baltimore, MD, son of the late Adolph and Mary Jane (Harris) Storck.  He received his early education at St. Mary’s Grade School, Calvert Hall Country School, and Calvert Hall College High School in Baltimore.  He entered the Third Order Regular of the Franciscans in September of 1943. He studied for the priesthood at St. Francis College and Seminary, Loretto, PA, and was ordained as a Third Order Regular of the Franciscan Friars on May 24, 1952 at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, Altoona, Pennsylvania by Bishop Richard Guilfoyle.

 As a Franciscan Friar, he served as associate pastor of St. Egbert’s Church in Morehead City, NC and as associate chaplain to the U. S. Marines at Camp Lejeune, NC, before beginning his teaching ministry in September of 1952. He taught at St. Francis Preparatory School, Spring Grove, PA, Roman Catholic High School in Philadelphia, PA, and Bishop Egan High School in Levittown, PA. In 1959 he was appointed treasurer of St. Francis College, Loretto, PA. 

 In 1960 Bishop Michael Hyle accepted Father Storck for the Diocese of Wilmington and assigned him to Corpus Christi Church, Elsmere, DE as associate pastor and high school teacher.  In 1962 he was appointed principal of Corpus Christi High School. He was incardinated as a Priest of the Diocese of Wilmington on May 10, 1963.

 Father Storck was appointed pastor of St. Catherine of Siena, Wilmington, in 1970 where he served until he was appointed pastor of the Church of the Holy Child, Wilmington, in 1980.  During this time he was appointed Dean of the Millcreek Deanery. 

 In 1986, Father Storck was appointed full time chaplain to the nursing homes in upper New Castle County, Delaware and continued until he retired in June 2002.  In his retirement years, Father served many parishes in the Wilmington area by saying Mass and hearing Confessions.

Father Storck was predeceased by his brother, Adolph J. Storck.  He is survived by his sister-in-law, Maureen Storck; three nephews, one niece and their families.

The viewing for Fr. Storck will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 2503 Centerville Road, Wilmington on Thursday, June 15 from 9:00-10:30AM.  A Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated by Most Reverend W. Francis Malooly, will be offered at 11:00AM.  Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
