Neva Bernier Keene, age 97, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 27, 2018.
Neva was born in Otis, MA on July 7, 1920. Daughter of Phebe and Philip Bernier, she spent many happy childhood years in Pleasant Valley, Ct. Upon graduating from UConn with a BA in Sociology, she was employed as a social worker in CT and a health educator in NY. After raising her family, she spent 27 years as a tour guide at Longwood Gardens.
Neva’s most important role in life was as wife and mother. She enjoyed tennis, skiing, gardening, cooking and traveling.
Neva was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Clinton H. Keene.
She is survived by her 5 children: Ann M. Keene, Janice K. Munyan, Sandra K. Ashby (Robert), Nancy K. Williams and Thomas C. Keene (Anita). The joys of her life were her 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Her greatest legacy is the closeness her family shares.
We will celebrate Neva’s life on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 2503 Centerville Rd., Wilmington, DE 19805. Visitation will be held from 10 am-12 noon with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at noon. Burial will be private.
