He graduated in 1959 from Danville High School and joined the US Army Tank Corps in 1960.  He was sent to Germany for 32 months where he patrolled the East/West German border. He returned home and attended Wilkes College in 1963.  While there he worked as an intern with Baron, Strassman Accounting firm.  In June 1965, he married Bonnie Fruit and lived in Danville, PA moving to Wilkes Barre, PA later that year.  In November 1967, he answered an ad in the paper for Accountant at the General Motors Assembly plant in Wilmington, DE.  He told his wife it was warmer in Delaware and when they arrived it was snowing.  He and Bonnie moved to Landenberg, PA in 1973 where they raised their daughters, Gabrielle and Noel.

Neil retired from GM in 1998 and worked at the University of Pennsylvania New Bolton Center driving mail back and forth to Philadelphia. He loved golf and had the pleasure of serving as a Marshall at the McDonalds LPGA for several years.  Neil was a die-hard Penn State fan and attended almost all home games.  He attended several bowl games including both Rose Bowl games in which Penn State played. He was a race car fan and attended the Indy 500 and 400. His favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt, Sr. & Jr.
