Nancy R. Moretto

Nancy R. Moretto, age 79 of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Monday, October 16, 2017.

She was born on March 2, 1938, in Chester PA, the daughter of Harold and Anna (Taylor) King.

Upon graduation from Eddystone High School, Nancy worked for Congoleum Flooring in Trainer, PA. She later relocated to Cape May, NJ and worked for the United States Overseas Airlines (USOA). It was there she met her husband Joseph R. Moretto.

Nancy and Joe were married in 1961, in Cape May, NJ and later moved to Wilmington, DE in 1970. Nancy was a life-long homemaker, always placing her family first. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Nancy was very involved at St. John the Beloved Parish – as volunteer in their kitchen. She also volunteered with her husband, Joe at Little Sisters of the Poor. She enjoyed the yearly holiday gatherings at her home with friends and family. She especially enjoyed her holiday cookie baking. Eventually, sharing those traditions with her two granddaughters, Madison and Mia.     

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased in death by her husband Joseph R. Moretto in 2014. Left to cherish her memory are her three sons, Joseph and his wife Kimberly, John and Hal and his wife Cathy. Her grandchildren, Madison, Mitchell, Matthew and Mia.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am on Friday, October 20, 2017 at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington DE 19808. Family and friends may visit on October 19, 2017 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE. Interment will be held at All Saints Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank her caregivers from both Heartland Hospice and Age Advantage of Newark.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Heartland Hospice 256 Chapman Road Suite 102, Newark, DE 19702.
