Mildred McDonald, 83, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving children on Wednesday, January 21, 2015.
Millie was born in Philadelphia, PA on September 12, 1931 to the late Timothy and Mildred (McDevitt) Wilson and was a graduate of Hallahan Girls’ Catholic High School. After raising her four children, she and her husband, Larry, founded McDonald Safety Equipment Company in 1978 and the company expanded to include Brandywine Valley Fire & Safety and McDonald Optical Laboratory. She was a member of St. John the Beloved Parish since 1958.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence J. McDonald, who passed away on January 26, 1986; and her grandson, David Krajewski.
Millie is survived by her children, Bernadette Krajewski, Judith McDonald, Brian McDonald (Susan) and Denise Jones (Tom); her grandchildren, Paul Krajewski, Debra Krajewski Nunez, Kelly Jones Mason, Kevin Jones, and Philip, Timothy and Patrick McDonald; and her six great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Richard Wilson (Terri); and her aunt, Edith LaVallin.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Sunday, January 25 from 3:00-5:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington on Monday, January 26 at 10:00AM. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
