Michael J. Greer, 66 of Wilmington, DE passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, June 20, 2017.
Mike was born in Chester, PA on June 25, 1950, son of the late Wiley and Hallie (Arnold) Greer. A graduate of John Dickinson High School, he proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Korea. Mike was employed as a technician in the medical device industry for more than 25 years, having retired in May of this year.
Mike enjoyed a variety of interests throughout his life. He was an avid fisherman and loved music, especially classic and southern rock; he could often be seen playing a mean air guitar! Mike was also a Star Trek and sci-fi fan, and enjoyed watching a good western. He had a sweet tooth and was affectionately called “candy man”. In recent times, Mike selflessly helped care for his wife during her health struggles.
Mike will be dearly missed by his wife of 26 years, Patricia A. (Davis) Greer; his step children, James Lincoln and wife, Denise, Jennifer Galvin and husband, Robert, David Lincoln and fiancée, Lisa Smith; his grandchildren, Benjamin, Natalie, Robert, Logan, David. He is also survived by his brother, Donald Greer; his sisters, Deborah Clouges and Patricia Gove.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Tuesday, June 27 from 4:00-6:00PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 28 at 12:00PM, followed by interment with military honors in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
