Marion R. (Robertson) Symonds

Marion Symonds, age 86, of Hockessin, DE passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2015.

She was born in Wilmington, DE, daughter of the late Norman and Mary (Sherwin) Robertson.

Marion worked as a medical secretary and was an active member of Silverside Church. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels and at the Emmanuel Dining Room, and was involved in the Ann Judson Society. She enjoyed traveling both throughout the country and internationally. Marion spent many summers at her cottage on the Elk River. She cherished spending time with her family and especially adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Another summer tradition was “Groovy Tuesday” where she and her family would get together at her grandson’s pool.

Marion is survived by her daughter, Suzanne O Connell and her husband, Tim; her grandchildren, Tim O Connell and his wife, Sharon, and Ellyn Censurato; and her great-grandchildren, Timmy O Connell, Jammi O Connell and Liliana Censurato.

In addition to her parents, Marion was preceded in death by her husband, Richard H. Symonds; and her daughter, Mary Ellen Symonds.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, September 19th, 2015 at Silverside Church, 2800 Silverside Road, Wilmington, DE 19810.
