Margaret M. (McMahon) Sandstrom

Margaret M. Sandstrom, age 95, passed away on July 1, 2017 at Cadia Rehabilitation Pike Creek in Wilmington, her home for the past two years.

Born in Wilmington on June 19, 1922, she was the daughter of James McMahon and Sarah Jackson McMahon.

Margaret enjoyed nothing more than going on special outings with her family, especially when the outings included clothes shopping. Shopping will never be the same without her.

She was a lady determined to seek out those who could help her complete what she could not do alone, and she was very grateful to those who came to her aid.

Margaret was predeceased by her husband Carl Layton. She is survived by her daughters, Carol Kozlowski (John); Margaret Sandstrom; and Alice Stone (Terry); four grandchildren, Mark Kozlowski (Erin); Julie Kozlowski; Timothy Reed (fiancé Sara); and Alyssa Jacobs-Beazer (Eustace); and two great-granddaughters, Ava and Anya Kozlowski, the light of her life. She enjoyed and saved every drawing they gave her.

The family would like to thank the staff who cared about her at Cadia Pike Creek and also the many families and residents who were her friends at Cadia. Also thank you to the staff at her former residence for over 12 years, Windsor Place/Brookdale Hockessin and to Heartland Hospice for the caring individuals who visited Cadia to support Margaret and her family.
