Margaret M. (Spoerl) Dorsey

Margaret M. Dorsey, age 94, of Bear, DE, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 6, 2017. Born in Wilmington, she was the daughter of the late Carl W. and Kathryn Spoerl.

For over 19 years, Margaret and her husband, Edward, were the co-owners of Dorsey Book Service. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Wilmington. Margaret enjoyed spending time at the Fraim Senior Center.

Margaret will be remembered for her caring and generous spirit. She will be truly missed by her loving family.

Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Edward A. Dorsey; her parents; her brothers, Paul (Buddy) and George Spoerl; her sisters, Rose Springer, Marian Biddle and Alice Fleming; as well as her sister-in-law, Genevieve Grove. She is survived by her sisters, Kathryn Rossi of Jacksonville, FL and Elizabeth Seery of Wilmington; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may visit on Tuesday, April 11 from 10 to 11 AM at Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808, where a Celebration of Margaret’s Life will begin at 11 AM. Entombment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 2004 Sproul Rd., Suite #208, Broomall, PA 19008 or to the favorite charity of the donor.
