Welcome to the memorial page for

Liam J. Monhollan

June 22, 2006 ~ June 8, 2017 (age 10) 10 Years Old

Liam J. Monhollan, age 10, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 8, 2017 with his loving family by his side. Although Liam’s time with us was brief, he lived everyday of his life to the fullest.

Liam had just graduated as a fifth grader at Carrcroft Elementary School and was looking forward to going to Springer Middle School. He was a good student and had been nominated for National Junior Honor Society. Liam enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Carrcroft Garden Club.

Liam was an amazing boy with many talents despite having cerebral palsy. He loved any sports, especially swimming, soccer, baseball and flag football. Liam also loved playing basketball. During basketball season, Liam loved cheering on the Salesianum basketball team and he was their honorary manager. He loved to watch any football games, hockey and the Phillies.

Liam loved all types of music and everything Disney. He played the cello in the orchestra and also enjoyed singing in the chorus. Some of his favorite times were having Liam and Mommy dance parties and fishing with his dad. The beach was Liam’s favorite place to go, where he could play in the sand and the water.

Liam was a natural peace keeper and secret keeper, who always wanted to make sure everyone was okay. He liked to help do work around the house as well as cook. Liam loved to have a “plan of the day” and was always the “time keeper” of making sure everyone kept on track of the plan. Liam was very smart and loved to learn how things worked. He would assist with taking things apart and putting them back together, especially as the safety patroller and silent brain behind the project. He was also very ornery and quite the prankster, as he would be known to make prank calls and text messages.

Liam will be dearly missed for his infectious laugh and amazing smile that would brighten up the room. He loved to love and found a friend in anyone he met. Liam will be remembered for his kind and loving heart of gold.

To those he loved and who loved him, “He is our hero, the love of our life, our beat.”

Liam is survived by his mother, Katie M. Rawls; his father, Jeffrey D. Monhollan; his maternal grandparents, Greg Stachowski (Denise) and Joann Acker; his paternal grandparents, Jim Monhollan and Teresa Cross; his great grandparents, Maryann and Paul Cate, and Marie Hurd; his godparents, Sean Monhollan and Christina Johnson; his aunts, Anne-Jeannette Stachowski and Olivia Acker; his uncle, Rory Stachowski; as well as his many cousins, extended family and friends.

Liam’s family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Liam’s paraprofessional and best friend, Shane Yost, as well as his nurses, Laura and Zasha, who all took amazing care of Liam through the years.
