Lawrence J. O’Donnell, Sr., 87 of Newark, DE, passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2017.

Laurie was born in Stoughton, MA, the youngest child of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Coyle) O’Donnell. He served in the US Navy and went on to enjoy a career as an accountant, working for Getty Oil, Texaco, and Valero. He was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus and was very devoted to his family.

He is survived by his children, Larry and his wife, Deborah, and Leslie Murphy and her husband, Henry; and his grandchildren, Lawrence (Mary), Kevin, Brendan, Erin, Abigail, Stephen and Joseph.

In addition to his parents, Laurie was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lillian (Mackin) O’Donnell; and his six siblings: Margaret, Helen, William, Joseph Jr., Phillip and John.

Family and friends are invited to visit from 5:00 – 7:00pm on Monday, May 1st, 2017 at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Holy Family Church, 15 Gender Road, Newark, DE 19713. Interment will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Laurie’s memory can be made to Holisticare Hospice, LLC via the Pennsylvania SunCatcher Fund, 685 Kromer Avenue, Berwyn, PA 19312.
