Kevin A. Selner, 45, of Wilmington, DE passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 20, 2016.

He is the son of Robert and Virginia Selner of Elkton, Maryland.

Kevin earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources and Business Management from Wilmington University.  Throughout his career, he held managerial and leadership positions.  He was employed for 15 years with Discover Financial Services, where he served as a project manager, and was a director of operations with Comcast Corporation for 6 years.

Kevin was a dedicated supporter of the National Brain Tumor Society (NBTS).  He volunteered countless hours as co-chairman of the NBTS Delaware Walk, and was instrumental in founding and leading the “Wonder Woman Joey Tour”, which supported and honored his late wife, Joey.  Kevin also organized and managed a variety of fund raising events for the NBTS.

Kevin was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, the Knights of Columbus and a lifetime member of the Elkton United Methodist Church.   He also enjoyed memberships with the Notre Dame Fan Club of Delaware, the New Castle County Irish Society, and the Parkway West Historic Bancroft Parkway Association.

As a youth, Kevin loved little league, basketball and bowling where he scored many a 700 series.  His greatest love was that of being with people.  He simply loved family endlessly, and always brought a cheer to everyone who ever met him.

His beloved wife, Joann “Joey” Outten, passed away on September 26, 2013.

Kevin will be dearly missed by his parents, Robert and Virginia (Barnes) Selner; his Mom Mom, Virginia Barnes Salerno; his sister, Chemayne Larsen (Douglas); his niece and nephew, Samantha and Christian Larsen; and his closest, dearest friend, Liz Piccirilli, who is a “member of the family”.   Kevin is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was predeceased by his brother, Michael Joseph Chelf; his grandfather, Harry D. Barnes, Sr.; and his grandparents, Leroy and Florence Selner.

Friends are invited to the visitation at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 4th Street and Bancroft Parkway, Wilmington on Wednesday, September 28 from 10:30-11:45AM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00PM.  Interment will be held privately.
