Kathy A. Saturday

Kathy A. Saturday, 63, of Wilmington, DE peacefully passed away in the comfort of her home on Thursday, October 1, 2015.

Kathy was born in Michigan City, Indiana on July 22, 1952, the middle child of the late John and Esther (Schultz) Saturday.  A graduate of Eastern Michigan University, she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry.  Kathy furthered her education at Indiana University, where she studied analytical chemistry and earned her doctorate. 

Kathy joined the DuPont Company in 1979, and began her career in Aiken, South Carolina.  She transferred to the Chambers Works Plant and became a Wilmington resident in 1986, and as her career continued to excel, she relocated to the Memphis Plant in Tennessee, where she managed both technical and operations groups.  Kathy returned to Wilmington in 1990 and held positions at various DuPont sites – Downtown Wilmington, Barley Mill, Chestnut Run, Glasgow and the Experimental Station.  She retired in 2009 after a successful and dedicated 30 years of service.

Kathy was a faithful and devoted member of the Parish of the Resurrection, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, choir member and finance council member.  She was affiliated with the Jesus House Prayer and Renewal Center, and received a certificate in Spiritual Direction from Neumann University in 2008.  Kathy was also a member of the Sweet Adelines Diamond State Chorus and P.E.O. Sisterhood Chapter D-DE.  She was very active in Geocaching and was known as “Minpin”.  She loved spending time at her beach house, and enjoyed reading, computers and technology, and cross stitching.

Kathy will be lovingly remembered by her brother, Robert Saturday and wife, Sue; her sister, Rita Blanchard and husband, Phil; her nieces, nephews and great nephews; and her many dear friends.  She also leaves her beloved dogs, Penny and Nikki.

Friends are invited to the visitation at Parish of the Resurrection, 3000 Videre Drive, Wilmington, DE 19808 on Wednesday, October 7 from 10:00-11:00AM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM.  Kathy will be laid to rest in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Kathy may be made to Parish of the Resurrection.
