Joyce M. (Subach) Thompson

Joyce M. (Subach) Thompson, 60, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 with her loving husband by her side.

Joyce was born in Wilmington and grew up in Browntown. She was a graduate of St. Elizabeth’s High School and went on to work as a bartender in the Newark area.

She was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, especially of her beloved Eagles. She also enjoyed watching the racehorses at Delaware Park. Joyce loved spending time in Dewey Beach, so much so, her and her husband, Glen, were married there in 2009.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Glen Thompson; her daughter, Kelly Czarnecki; her grandchildren, Teaunah, Sam and Toni; her brother, Alby Subach; her mother-in-law, Beatrice Thompson; sisters-in-law, Dee Joyce (Jack), and Donna Subach; and her nieces and nephews, AJ and Robby Subach, John and Ara Joyce, and Mike and Deanne Joyce.

Joyce’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Seasons Hospice for the care and compassion she received during her stay.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00pm on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808, where family and friends may visit starting at 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Joyce’s memory can be made to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, 2600 Network Blvd, Suite 300, Frisco, TX 75034.
