Jack Feeney passed away on Thursday evening, July 2, 2015 after a brief illness.
Jack was a World War II veteran, serving first as a member of the Delaware State Guard, and later as a US Navy “Airdale” Air Gunner. He was a member of St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, where he attended the Charter Mass and served as an usher. Jack was also a member of Men Of Malvern, Stapler AA, Shadden Point Hunt Club, Salt Pond Golf Club and the Irish Culture Club of Delaware. He enjoyed hunting, surf fishing, golf, biking, thoroughbred horse racing, spending time with his family and attending daily mass. Jack worked at the DuPont Experimental Station, retiring as an electrical supervisor in 1986 after 39 ½ years of service. After retirement, he volunteered as a counselor for the Elder Information Program at the Weston Senior Center.
Jack is predeceased by his parents, John F. and Anna S. Feeney, his sister Mary Ellen Emmons, his brother F. Carroll Feeney, and his best friend, James “Monk” Montgomery. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 66 years, Dolores Radka Feeney and three daughters, Sharon K. Feeney, Patti Feeney-Lynch (Chris) and Maureen Feeney Roser (Gary); four grandchildren, Christopher “CJ”, Kevin “KJ” (Elyse), Jaci “JR” (Bruce), and Tara “TT”; and one great granddaughter Jordan “JRJ.”
Jack’s life will be celebrated with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington, DE 19808 at noon on Wednesday, July 8, 2015. Internment will be in Cathedral Cemetery immediately following the service. Visitation will be held prior to Mass from 9:30–11:00 AM at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road Pike Creek.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Jack’s memory to St. John the Beloved Church.
