Jesus Manuel Paredes

Jesus Manuel Paredes, 64, of Bear, DE peacefully passed away in the comfort of his home on Saturday, August 26, 2017.  He was surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Paredes was born in Jalisco, Mexico on November 21, 1952.  He earned a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Tepic Nayarit, Mexico and enjoyed his career as a teacher, and ultimately as a high school principal.  Mr. Paredes and his family came to the United States in 1986, settling in Salt Lake City, UT, and made Delaware their home in 1997.  Mr. Paredes founded several Mexican specialty stores in New Castle County.  His first business, Mi Ranchito, was followed by Ruby’s Mexican Store, and lastly, El Rey Mexican Store, which is currently owned and operated by his family. 

Mr. Paredes is survived by his wife of 40 years, Clendia Guzman Paredes; his daughter, L. Rubi Paredes-Wilson and husband, Kelley Wilson; his grandchildren, Rubi Klendia Wilson and Rey Kelley Wilson; his mother, Lina Avila de Paredes; his brothers, Mario Paredes, Luis Noe Paredes, and Javier Paredes.

Visitation will be held at Holy Angels Church, 82 Possum Park Road, Newark on Friday, September 1 from 5:00-6:00PM, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 6:00PM.  Interment will be held privately.
