Jeanette L. (Laing) Brown

Jeanette Laing Brown, 85, of Wilmington, DE passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 4, 2016.

Jean was born in Philadelphia, PA on December 14, 1930, daughter of the late Edgar and Florence (Zycinski) Laing.  She began her career with Dun and Bradstreet and then became a full time mom and homemaker.  After raising her sons, Jean worked in retail, finishing her career at Burlington Coat Factory. 

An avid bingo player, Jean also enjoyed the beach, fishing and crabbing.  She had a great love for the ponies on Chincoteague Island. 

Jean is survived by her sons, Steven and his wife, Diane, and Michael and his wife, Jennifer; her grandchildren, Diane, Dan, Caitlin and Drew; her five great grandchildren; and her sister, Carole Rompala and her husband, Walt.  She is also survived by nieces, nephews and their families.

Jean was predeceased by her brothers, Edward and James; and her sisters, Lorraine and Anne.

Family and friends are invited to visit at Holy Family Church, Chestnut Hill and Gender Roads, Newark on Thursday, February 11 from 10:00-10:45AM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM.  Interment will be held privately.
