James D. Houston, Jr.

James D. Houston, Jr. passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 after a brief illness.

 Jim was born in Nurnberg, Germany to the late Margaret and James D. Houston, Sr.  He was a graduate of Delaware Technical and Community College with a degree in Chemistry.  He retired in 2004 after 26 years of service to New Castle County as an Environmental Chemist.  Jim was an avid fisherman who spent countless hours on the waters of Indian River Bay and on the beach in the Outer Banks of North Carolina.  He also was an accomplished wood refinisher.

 Jim is survived by his wife of 43 years, Catherine “Kay” Kozlowski Houston; son, Dan Houston (Kelly); granddaughters, Lily and Anna; and two furry kids, Sophie and Daisy.  Jim also leaves behind a sister, Marianne Teed (George); brother, Bill (Mary); and cousin, John Shaffer (Mary).  He will be dearly missed by his in-laws, Frank Kozlowski (Judy), John Kozlowski (Carol), and Antoinette Brzozowski (Lee); not to mention numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends.

 Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek, Wilmington, DE 19808 on Tuesday, March 31 from 5:00-7:00PM.  Funeral services and interment will be held privately.

  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to a favorite charity of Jim’s, the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675  (woundedwarriorproject.org).
