James E. “Jimmy”, “Pop Pop” Glynn, 80 of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully after a brief battle with cancer, on Friday, March 31, 2017.

Jimmy was born in Wilmington, son of the late James and Nellie (Hagerty) Glynn. He served honorably with the United States Marine Corps and enjoyed a 40 year career in the plumbing industry, retiring from Aquaflow in 2016.

Jimmy was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and “followed the ponies”. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and Pop Pop. He cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Jeri (Chambers) Glynn; his children, Michelle Brackin (Russ), Theresa McCloy (Dave) and Michael Glynn (Diane Gilardi); his grandchildren, RJ and Michael Brackin, Marissa and Melanie McCloy, and Alex Gilardi; his sisters, Betty Glynn and Helen Moore (John); as well as several nieces, nephews, and members of his extended family.

In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his brother, Franny Glynn.

Jimmy’s family would like to thank the staff at Regal Heights for the kindness, care and compassion shown to him during his stay.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, April 7, 2017 at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the VA Medical Center’s “End of Life” Program, 1601 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19805, or to Delaware Hospice, 16 Polly Drummond Center, 2nd Floor, Newark, DE 19711.
