Iris A. (Foreacre) Sagan

Iris A. (Foreacre) Sagan, 84 of Hockessin, DE peacefully passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2016.

Iris was born in Wilmington on June 24, 1931, daughter of the late Flossie (Vickers) Foreacre Faulkner and Walter Faulkner.  She began her working life at Braunstein’s Department Store in downtown Wilmington, and eventually worked for the Red Clay School District, retiring in 1991 after 20 years of service.

Iris was a longtime, active member of Immanuel Church, and married her beloved husband, Stephen at the original church on May 13, 1955.  She enjoyed traveling and was an avid Hummel collector.  In her later years, she enjoyed watching QVC and the Game Show Network.  Iris was a very generous person and found great joy in being with her family, especially her grandchildren.

The love of her life, her husband of 48 years, Stephen Sagan, passed away on April 5, 2002.  Her son, Robert M. Sagan, also passed away in 2002.

Iris will be dearly missed by her children, Stephen W. Sagan and wife, Sharon Russell, and Kathleen I. DiPilla and husband, Felice; her grandchildren, Samantha, John (Courtney), Stephanie, Angela (Jesse), Stephen, Deanna (Jeff) and Daniel; and her great grandchildren, Nathan, Caleb, Cassidy and Owen.  Iris has a great grandson on the way.

She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Laura Lee Foreacre.

She was predeceased by her brother, Louis Foreacre; and her sister, Audrey Dougherty.

The family would like to thank the staff of Regal Heights, especially those at E and A Wings, for the love and care given to Iris.

Family and friends are invited to visit at Immanuel Church, 2414 Pennsylvania Avenue, Wilmington on Friday, May 20 from 10:00-11:00AM, with funeral services immediately following.  Interment will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Iris may be made to Immanuel Church, 2414 Pennsylvania Avenue, Wilmington, DE 19806.
