Honey Niedbalski, age 80, of Wilmington, DE, passed away after a short illness at Seasons Hospice at Christiana Hospital on Sunday, August 23, 2015.
A life-long resident of Wilmington, DE, Honey was born on October 21, 1934, the youngest daughter of the late Stanislaw and Leokadja (Gosciniak) Pielechowicz.
Honey was a graduate of Wilmington High School, where she enjoyed dancing during her lunch periods. She was employed as a secretary to the president of John E. Healy & Sons Construction Company, retiring after 30 years.
Honey will be remembered for her warm and generous spirit, always going out of her way to make everyone feel welcome and part of her family. She enjoyed lunches and dinners with her girlfriends and her “Birthday Club”; her daily crosswords puzzles and cryptograms; her visits to Delaware Park; traveling with her husband; and all things “Elvis”. Family and friends always looked forward to one of her delicious cakes baked with love and made special for any occasion; and also looked forward to her exceptional Christmas parties.
Honey will be deeply missed by Joe, her beloved husband of 55 years; her sister, Irene Gorski; and numerous nieces and nephews, including her god-children, Gail, Gary, Valerie and Justin.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles, Stephen and Stan Piel; and her sisters, Ann Ptak and Stephanie Lang.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 – 7:00pm on Wednesday, August 26, 2014 at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Thursday, August 27, 2015, at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington, DE 19808. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John the Beloved Church at the above address.
