Helen P. (Niemenski) Niziolek of Hockessin, DE, formerly of Wilkes, Barre, PA, peacefully passed away at the age of 93 on Wednesday, April 11, 2018.
Helen was born in Wilkes Barre on January 29, 1925, one of ten children of the late Paul and Sally (O’Crongly) Niemenski, and was a graduate of Hanover High School. She was a longtime member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Plains, PA. Helen and her husband, Ben relocated to the Wilmington area in 2009 to be with their children. She was a talented seamstress, baker and took pride in cooking traditional Polish dishes. Helen enjoyed vacations spent at “the cottage” in the Outer Banks, and also enjoyed visiting family in England and Mexico.
She was predeceased by all of her siblings.
Helen is survived by husband of nearly 69 years, Benjamin Z. Niziolek; her children, Nadine Fiske (Roger, deceased), Barry Niziolek (Susan), and Benjamin Niziolek Jr. (Stephanie); her grandsons, Dr. Kyle Niziolek, Cory Niziolek, and Evan Niziolek.
Friends are invited to the visitation at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 7200 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin on Monday, April 16 from 10:00-10:45AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM. Interment will be held privately in her home area of Luzerne County, PA.
